Geek Dreams Fulfilled...Almost

O2 is planning to release an updated version of its XDA PocketPC phone. (Click for press release). That makes me very excited, because this device satisifies my original wish list. However, it will only be availalble in Europe. Luckily, the new phone will be tri-band, so I should be able to just buy one and it will work here. That's what I did with my Ericsson T39, which has been a great phone. The only thing to watch out for: the T39 came with a Swedish charging plug and manual. God, how I hate that my lust for gadgets outpaces the production of them.

Small World

"Human Interrelationships on the Big Mudball I Call Home." Catchy name for a book. I was lurking tonight checking out various comments and posts on Urban and I ran across a related link back to a blog in Elko, Nevada. Now I can't tell who runs this blog, and it doesn't sound like they know me. I grew up in Elko, however, so it's very interesting to me that these two virtual paths have crossed. I haven't been back in about a decade, but the blog brought back great memories.

UPS, Welcome to 2003

I always find UPS a great example of a business model that has reached the end of an era.

I'm a Data Island

Something about Urban Potato hasn't sat right with me since I rolled the site out.

HTPC Bug

I've been doing a lot of research on the web. First of all, Microsoft's Media Center PC has several much cooler models now.

Online Myst?

Interesting read. Cyan (the makers of Myst) is creating an online persistent world of Myst. The original game had a way of sucking into it, and I wonder if the online version could do the same. I wish it was not just for the PC, however; XBox-Live would make this very easy access. And, it would give me something to do while waiting for Halo2.
