Danna's Graduation Party

After five years, Danna finally finished her MBA. She wanted a low key bar night, but instead I gathered up all the people she invited to the bar, multiplied by several more, and had them all surprise her at our house when she got back from her last final.

Late Nights

I always do this: I have grand expectations about how much work I can actually get done in any given amount of time. This week marks the end of one of our coding milestones at work, and once again I find myself a long way from the fnish line.

Media Room Remodel

Our media room has never worked for us. A few months ago we finally broke down and hired an interior designer to sort it out.

Dad's Hip Surgery

Dad popped in for surgery at 7:00 in the morning, and by 11:00 he was done and walking. Three hours, and a small three inch incision in his thigh was the only evidence of a new titanium hip lurking below his skin. I'm amazed that something as complicated as a complete hip replacement isn't more invasive.

He Finally Popped the Question

Brian and I went to dinner to celebrate our birthdays and he gave me a special surprise.

Small World

"Human Interrelationships on the Big Mudball I Call Home." Catchy name for a book. I was lurking tonight checking out various comments and posts on Urban and I ran across a related link back to a blog in Elko, Nevada. Now I can't tell who runs this blog, and it doesn't sound like they know me. I grew up in Elko, however, so it's very interesting to me that these two virtual paths have crossed. I haven't been back in about a decade, but the blog brought back great memories.

Houses are Hard Work

I just spent a whopping eight hours out in the sun weeding, mowing the lawn, and generally digging around in the dirt. We hauled out three bags of weeds, and the place still looks like a pit. Now, heres the fun part: we have almost no yard. We have a little strip of garden area around our deck, and we have a few small areas of lawn near the sidewalk. Yet, we are overrun by weeds. I close my eyes and I see weeds. I have nightmares about the entire house being covered in ivy. How do people with real houses do it?

Back From Sonoma

Sonoma was a success if you measure success by the number of bottles of wine purchased and consumed. By the end of the trip I found myself unable to speak at the dinner table. Everyone decided it would be best that whenever I wanted to get someone's attention I should raise my glass in a toast and shout "Bonzai!" This works remarkably well, by the way.
